Qian Miaoru, a lawyer from Chongqing Baijun lawyer affairs, was invited to give a lecture in Min’an Fuhua community, Jiu Longpo district, on Sept. 6^th.  Surrounding the topic of “how to notice and prevent the risk of household wealth”, Ms. Qian informed the citizens of knowledge about the risks in the legal level of lending money, buying houses in other people’s names, claiming legacy and etc. Besides, she also talked about how to calculate the tax if you were to sell the house inherited. It was the first time that the “Knowledge Bus” project had been applied to practice and there would be more lectures in the following days.

Considering that most of the audience were old people, Ms. Qian appealed to cases in daily life to explain the relevant legal knowledge in simple sentences, and answered the questions like “how to write a receipt for a loan”, “matters needing attention during the procedures to claim a inherited house”, “the kinds of taxes to pay when you buy or sell a house”, “the relevant legal items about inheriting issues in second marriage” and etc. The principle of “to serve, to be clear and exact” was fully embodied in the lecture and the rate of “very satisfied” in the questionnaire about the lecture was as high as 98%.

The lecture marked the beginning of the project organized by Chongqing Library to spread knowledge in schools and communities, which is also a sub-project of “Knowledge Bus”, the public welfare project funded by Chongqing Science and Technology Foundation. Supported by Chongqing Science and Technology Foundation and based on the project of Science and Technology Book House, Chongqing Library will hold more activities including lectures to popularize law or health and provide access to experience of operating technological device and to books about science and technology. In the near future, Chongqing Library will play a more and more important role in spreading technological and cultural knowledge.
