With the Spring Festival approaching, people are looking forward to a relaxing and happy holiday after a whole year’s busy work. What can we do to enrich our spiritual world during the Spring Festival Holiday? 

To help citizens add more cultural taste to the Festival, the Reader Service Center of Chongqing Library held a series of special activities for Spring Festival on January 22nd ,2017. About 300 readers attended the activities on the scene; together, they explored the spirits of the city, experienced the joy of reading and felt the beauty of traditional culture.

At 10 o’clock in morning, Chongqing celebrity, the actor of character Xiangkui in program Life Malatang of Chongqing TV, the Deputy Secretary-General of Chongqing Story-makers Association, the deputy chairman of Jiangbei Drama and Opera Artists Association and the director of Shapingba Drama Artists Association Xiang Shiyu arrived in Chongqing Library and shared stories about Chongqing Spirit in Readers Club. As a city that had suffered from Japan’s strategic bombing for five and half years and famous as the accompany capital during the war time, Chongqing witnessed the process how China rose into one of the strongest country in world anti-fascist camp and memorized the vivid scenes and unforgettable memories during the harsh wartime. Mr. Xiang showed a series of valuable old photos to the readers and explained the source of Jiefangbei “ the spiritual fortress ” and described the fabulous scenes when Chongqing was liberated and when all of the Chongqing People bade farewell to General Yang Hucheng’s coffin.

Chongqing, the city of mountains, embraced magnificent mountains and delicate rivers. Hongyan heroes sacrificed themselves to defend our country; Chongqing people spared no effort striding ahead. The heroism and their spirits will never die; Chongqing remembers; the mountains and rivers remember.
